Much like wind energy, solar power is a clean and renewable form of energy that is quickly being recognized as a viable, competitively priced and environmentally sound alternative to fossil fuels. Solar power is the Earth’s most abundant energy source and is capable of meeting a significant portion of the world’s energy demand.
GREENWING’S SOLAR FOCUS
GreenWing is focused on the development of utility-scale solar energy projects (20-300MW) plus larger distributed solar energy projects (5-20MW).
With CSP technologies facing several important environmental and water use constraints, plus a fairly flat cost reduction curve, GreenWing’s current solar technolgy of choice is ground-mounted PV. This typically consist of PV modules mounted on two-axis trackers to optimize their capture of the sun’s energy. This combination of PV and pole-mounted two-axis trackers provides what is fast becoming a cost competitive solution. Additional important benefits of PV technology include the virtual elimination of water use and significantly lower overall environmental impact as less site disturbance is required and no permanent shadowing of the ground occurs.
